NY Giants Beat Carolina On Last Second Fumble Return For TD

September 1, 2010 · Posted in Blogging · Comment

The NFL couldn’t have scripted a better ending to their first nationally televised Monday Night Football contest of the year. New York Giants rookie Tommie Hill returned a fumble 18 yards for a touchdown with 0:00 on the clock to break open a tie game and give his team a 24-17 victory over the Carolina Panthers in NFL preseason action .

Carolina’s fourth string QB Hunter Cantwell fumbled the football after his arm was hit on a pass attempt as time expired. Hill grabbed the loose ball and headed to the endzone for the shockingly bizarre finish and a Giants victory.

Tommie Hill was in a state of shock as he spoke about his game winning touchdown return:

“I’ve never seen a game end like that, not that way. I’m just a rookie trying to make the team. Anything like that that helps the team win in turn helps me. It was just a fortunate situation and I made the most of it.”

Hill, an undrafted rookie out of Colorado State had already become a favorite of Giants fans due to his tenacious, high impact playmaking. His touchdown”the first hes scored since high school”will only help his efforts to make the NFL roster.

Carolina coach John Fox sounded more bemused than dejected at his teams unusual loss:

“Kind of an interesting ending. Both sides have a lot of work, but we have time. We have three weeks to do it

Giants QB Eli Manning, who recently became the NFLs highest paid player, put a positive spin on his short night of work:

“We ran the ball really well, hit a couple passes and we got a touchdown. That is always the goal. We did a nice job with it, so I thought we were effective as the first group.”

The Panthers will kick off the NFL regular season hosting the Philadelphia Eagles at home on Sunday, September 13th while the Giants will start their NFL campaign with a big divisional grudge match against the Washington Redskins.

Cutler Stars As Bears Rip Giants In NFL Preseason Play

September 1, 2010 · Posted in Blogging · Comment

The New York Giants weren’t the only losers in their NFL preseason game against the Chicago Bears. The Denver Broncos and their fans had to watch as their former franchise QB Jay Cutler carved up the Giants defense and think of what might have been. After a rough opening week, Cutler looked to be in regular season form and the Chicago Bears went on to win 17-3.

Cutler led drives of 80 and 92 yards and passed for a touchdown. After the game, he tried to maintain some perspective after hearing the criticism last week:

“It’s preseason. Everyone got a little excited last week when we didn’t produce but we looked OK tonight. There’s still room for improvement, so we’re going to go back to work. We’re coming together as an offense. We’re not quite there yet.”

“We’re kind of coming together, myself and the line, you know, with how I can move in the pocket, and when I can step up, when I can take off. It doesn’t happen overnight. We’ve got some new linemen, new receivers, a new quarterback. We’re all trying to figure it out.

Chicago’s new starting QB badly outplayed the Giants Eli Manning, who dismissed suggestions that the Giants struggled due to their short practice week:

“That’s no excuse. We were prepared and we looked at everything. We just didn’t execute. Too many negative plays.

The Bears have long prided themselves on their tenacious defense, and this game was no exception. Afterwards New York coach Tom Coughlin wasnt in the mood for serious analysis:

“We got beat. We have no excuses.”

The value of a solid passing game in Chicago should be obvious to any NFL fan”with the long absent passing threat, opposing defenses can no longer put 8 or 9 men in the box to stop the Bears productive rushing attack. This opens opportunities for the run game, and as any football strategist knows a productive rushing attack opens the field up for the passing attack. The addition of Cutler transforms the Bears offense from predictable and one dimensional to perfectly balance and extremely dangerous.

New York begins the NFL regular season traveling to play the Washington Redskins on September 13th, while the Bears also start their schedule on the road playing against traditional rivals Green Bay.

MMA Flashback: Kimbo Slice Comes To Prime Time

September 1, 2010 · Posted in Blogging · Comment

It wasn’t the decisive blowout that EliteXC was hoping far to send Kimbo Slice’s stardom into the stratosphere but with some seriously tense moments for the former street fighter against a game James Thompson everyone concerned is likely happy with a victory of any sort. Kimbo at times displayed some surprising skill on the ground, while at other times looked amateurish and lost. Slice clearly had the edge in the standup exchanges, and appeared to have Thompson on the verge of going down for the count several times in the fight. To his credit, the British fighter–who developed a reputation for having one of the weakest chins in the sport during his tenure in PRIDE–took Kimbo’s best shots and had a tactical answer every time he got in trouble by taking the bout to the mat.

This strategy worked well for Thompson until the final round. With both fighters faces showing the effects of their opponents punches, Kimbo stalked Thompson around the cage looking for a big punch. Though “The Colossus” kept his feet through several punishing combinations, the beginning of the end came when a Slice punch nearly sheared his ear off. The bloody, grotesque ear was clearly at risk of being seriously damaged and Kimbo punctuated this with four or five uncontested power punches. Thompson by this point was out on his feet and the ref jumped in to bring the proceedings to a halt giving Kimbo a TKO victory. After the fight an exhausted and relieved Slice flopped onto the mat, clearly relieved to have survived the toughest test hes faced in his embryonic MMA career.

While Thompson and his corner complained of an early stoppage, given the severity of the ear injury and the four or five uncontested power shots by Kimbo its a tough case to make. Furthermore, it was consistent with the officiating all night which obviously was trying to err on the side of caution in the first MMA event on prime time major network television. The ref was quick to call several of the earlier bouts, and the ringside physician was involved in two more bouts. Clearly, everyone concerned wanted to take no chances and risk an ugly late stoppage or serious injury with a huge broadcast TV audience”many of whom were assumed to be MMA neophytes.

EliteXC overall has to be very happy with how the event came off. The presentation was highly professional all night, and the announcing was superb. There was no question that Gus Johnson and Mauro Ranallo are solid pros, and Frank Shamrock is obviously a well spoken and experienced expert commentator but the three meshed together exceptionally well.

The emphasis from the start was on selling the sport of MMA. This was done via nicely produced and informative instructional videos, which would be helpful to a first time MMA viewer but didnt come off as sophomoric to the seasoned aficionado. Given the often unpredictable nature of the sport, EliteXC has to be pleased with how everything came off and the results of the fights on the card.

Overall, it was a professionally produced and entertaining night of action. With the exception of the less than decisive victory by Kimbo in the main event, it couldnt have gone better for EliteXC had it been scripted.

Learn Hindi Fast

August 31, 2010 · Posted in Blogging · Comment

Although it isn’t easy, it is possible to learn Hindi, or any other foreign language, by studying it from books. You can start learning hindi from local library or any other book center available near you. There are many good books available in the market. The downfall to this approach is that you will have a difficult time learning to speak Hindi without anyone to model pronunciations for you and correct your mistakes. If you choose to learn Hindi from books, I highly recommend that you supplement the books with Hindi movies, radio, or conversations with native speakers.

My friend learned hindi by listening to hindi songs and sending hindi sms to all of us. It might be possible to borrow tapes from your local library. Audiotapes (or CD’s) have many advantages over books. They are also portable. If you spend a lot of time in your car, you can use language tapes to learn Hindi while you’re on the road. You can rewind to listen again to anything that give’s you trouble. You will also get to hear and imitate an actual person speaking Hindi, as opposed to trying to guess at pronunciation by reading words on a page.

An alternative to learning Hindi from books or language tapes is to take a multimedia approach. There are many computer programs and websites with resources that will help you to learn Hindi. One of the advantages to this method is that you will probably have video snippets to watch in addition to audio speech models.

This way you can compare your speech to the examples and make sure that your pronunciation is accurate.A good software program will also help you to make plans and work accordingly with it to achieve desired goals. While a software program is not quite as portable as language tapes, if you have access to a laptop computer you can maximize the amount of time you spend studying Hindi.

If you truly want to learn Hindi, then the best way is to do it through immersing yourself in various culture and language activities. If this type of activities is not possible for you then you can choose the best possible and easiest method for yourself. Books can be useful if you also have access to movies or a native speaker so that you can hear Hindi spoken aloud. Audiotapes can be an effective learning method, particularly if you spend a great deal of time on the road.

NYC Chiropractor Explains Applied Kinesiology Online

August 29, 2010 · Posted in Blogging · Comment

When a NYC chiropractor explains Applied Kinesiology (AK), the details may contain a slightly different slant from the description presented by a homeopath or an acupuncturist, for example. The underlying principles, however, remain the same for all those who are skilled in the use of this health program.

The principles are credited to a practitioner named George Goodhart, who in 1969 formulated a theory of relationship between specific muscles and specific organs or organ systems. A weak muscle response, according to this theory, will signal a weak neural link to the organ, which can help in diagnosing the causes of fatigue, pain, and discomfort.

Obviously to those familiar with alternative therapies, this theory has similarities to others such as reflexology, acupuncture and acupressure, and the manual manipulation of joints and muscles. However, AK focuses on muscle and organ interdependence rather than on the stimulation of pressure points or the realignment of the skeletal system.

Kinesiology is based on an understanding of body movement and organ function as directed by signals from the brain. These electrical impulses are transmitted via the spinal cord and the nervous system. Applied kinesiology takes this understanding as the basis of a practical application, in using the muscle response to assess the functionality of hidden organs. Rather than invasive examinations such as X-rays and biopsies, AK uses external and harmless means to gain information.

Kinesiology is the study oh how the body moves as muscles and all other systems respond to signals from the brain that travel to and fro along the spinal cord and the neural pathways which make up the nervous system. AK is the practical application of this understanding to strengthen muscles to enhance this neural communication and restore proper function to the workings of the body. This therapy does not rely on invasive procedures such as surgery or the use of chemical drugs.

Finding a remedy for a weak area of the body can be approached by different means. If the blockage is structural, chiropractic manipulation of joints and the spine may help. If poor diet or deficiencies of essential nutrients are implicated, the actual substance can be used to identify the best agent to employ.

In this case, the client is given a substance to hold, whether it is a homeopathic remedy, a botanical, or a food. If the weak muscle response is now stronger, the substance is deemed to be of help in bringing the body back to health. If no improvement is noted, other substances will be tried or another approach used. In most cases, there will be more than one method that will prove valuable. Correcting posture, changing to a more adequate diet, avoiding allergens, and having muscles and the skeletal system adjusted may all be used. Acupressure or acupuncture is also often used with other programs.

When a NYC chiropractor explains applied kinesiology in addressing health concerns, he may also discuss other methods in discussing possible future actions to take. Regaining total body health will involve taking the information supplied by AP and integrating one or more therapies to restore balance throughout the body. Free consultations may be arranged to tell people about the benefits they might realize from this approach.
