Fancy Dress
Hosting a fancy dress party always creates a certain amount of fun; seeing how amazing, ridiculous or just glaringly outrageous all your friends look. However, it is often something that is confined to just special times of the year; such as Easter, Halloween, Christmas and New Year. But this doesn’t have to be the case.
Let’s be honest here, parties take place through the year, and there is no reason why one of these birthdays, retirement or even anniversary events shouldn’t have fancy dress as part of the package. Indeed, hosting such an event will more often than not add to the experience immeasurably.
If no ideas are flowing however, going for the Black Tie or "James Bond" option is always good. People love to dress in evening wear; male and female, so your party is sure to be well appreciated. But if you want to go even further than this, perhaps with a leaning to the risque, a Venetian Masquerade Ball could well be just the thing.
An excellent idea for a party is to theme it around current affairs and events happening in the world. An increasingly popular choice in this respect regards the climate; and whilst fun can be had, it can actually do a bit of good too of course.
Occasionally however, there are those invited guests that do not quite enter into the spirit of things. A couple of ideas to get around this are having a competition for the best outfit, or perhaps better still; forfeits for those that just don’t come up to standard.
Fancy dress parties have long been the preserve of the kids, but there is no reason for this to be the case. Adults are just as entitled to have a bit of fun, if not more so, so perhaps it is time to start organizing your gig?
A fancy dress party and fancy dress hire always brings forth memories of fun and good times for many; be it seeing how fab or stupid your friends actually can look. We've got the ultimate inside skinny on fancy dress hire .
New Look For 2010
Happy 2010!
As you can see I’ve changed the look of the site. I really enjoyed the old theme but I felt it was a bit dreary at times and wanted something fresh and new.
Along with the new look, I want to provide more content than ever. I’d like to write as much as possible, daily even for 2010, which is a lofty goal but I think if I just provide even a blurb here everyday then I’ve achieved what I set out to do. That’s not to say that I’ll never write the longer authority articles I’m accustomed to here, but I am trying to increase my presence on the web in a big way in 2010 and I hope you’ll help me to do that. Time is of the essence for me and I have to get maximum results with even the small things I do.
I know I bashed New Year’s resolutions in my last article, but I do recognize the power of the clean slate, fresh start mentality. Now is the time to be thinking about what you want to achieve this year. Make it your mission to form habits that will make those things happen for you. Eben Pagan has a saying called “inevitability thinking”. It means that you structure your life in a way that the things you want can’t help but happen to you. What is your inevitability thinking?
This is what I want for myself this year:
1. Write everyday, even if it’s just a little bit.
2. Use all the wonderful business tools I’ve learned over the past 2 years, stop being lazy, and build a sustainable income online.
3. Provide real value.
4. Eliminate and cut out all the time wasters that take me away from the things I really want to be doing.
5. Try to maintain a balance between my health, wealth, and relationships this year.
That’s it. Those are the only things I want. There are sub-goals that fall underneath those that will help me get there along the way but it goes back to what I said in the last post. Establish systems that will help you automate your efforts as much as possible and you will get closer to where you want to be with less effort and more time to do even more.
Good luck for 2010 and I wish you all the best for your success now and in the future.
Don’t Wait Until The New Year
It’s just a big excuse really to put off changes that you could be making now, while silently giving yourself permission to indulge excessively in the behavior that you supposedly so badly want to end or change. This just puts you deeper in the hole you want to get out of and makes it more likely for you to quit any program that you start early in the year once you see that your small amount of hard work just gets you back to where you were right before Christmas. It’s a vicious cycle and I don’t recommend making any resolutions at all.
This is not to say that I haven’t been guilty of it. I have as recently as this past year actually. What I’m saying is that the majority of New Year’s resolutions go unfulfilled while those who are really concerned about their personal development do work throughout the entire year to ensure that they see results. It’s a mindset that I have cultivated in myself and I would recommend that you do the same to boost not only your success but your overall happiness and well-being.
If you want to make resolutions, make them geared towards processes that bring you more time to do the things that you really want to do and will ultimately give you the most happiness. Here are some examples and the start of my list:
1. Take steps to cut down on the junk mail you will receive this year. One needs only to Google “remove yourself from junk mail lists” to get started.
2. Check email less times per day: Checking only once or twice per day is all you need to keep in touch with every one. Even less than that is even better. If anything is that important then people can call you. Part of the effectiveness of this one relies on you conditioning others to expect fewer responses from you and to be more concise when they do have your attention. You and those you correspond via email with will greatly benefit from this change.
3. Don’t go on binges, but instead make lifestyle changes. Eating right all the time is next to impossible, but at least eat right consistently. Work out consistently. Check your finances and your business consistently. Showing up the majority of the time is the thin line that separates success from half-assing it.
4. Automate as much as possible. Then automate some more. Streamline your activities online. Can you update all your social networking sites with one account? I update my Facebook and MySpace accounts just by updating my Twitter account. Also follow the same rules for emails as you do here. Do it just a set amount per day or even schedule updates to automatically be sent out so you don’t get sucked into the social vortex and lose hours of your life playing Farmville or Mafia Wars.
5. Be a little more selfish this year. I’m already practicing this one. I didn’t visit any body for the holidays. I got almost no one a present. I saved a lot of money and spent a little more on myself. You may not always be able to live up to this but start practicing it if you’re like me and can be a little too nice sometimes. Say no to more requests for your precious and valuable time.
6. Start blocking away time for uninterrupted productivity. Even if it’s just 2 hours, get that time by any means necessary.
The end goal of all of these is gaining more time in your life through selective ignorance. If you get more time, all the other things will improve as long as you improve the processes in your life with your new found hours.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and get started now. Personal development is your job, not anybody else’s. In order to get the time, you have to eliminate the things that don’t matter to focus on the things that do.
Are you ready for 2009?
First up, let me say that I hope you enjoyed your holidays as much as I enjoyed mine. I spent some quality time with my wife and daughters and the rest of our family and had more fun than I’ve had in a long time! As Christmas passed, the New Year loomed large in my mind and my goals, resolutions, or wants(pick your poison) came to the forefront of my focus.
I saw a very influential video that Frank Kern put out to promote his new Infomillionaire product. It was titled How To Get Rich: A Guaranteed Approach. After an entertaining Cribs-style video, Frank gave a 4 step plan on getting rich. It had some excellent points that really rang true with me. Most importantly:
1. Being specific about your goals i.e. KNOW YOUR OUTCOME
2. Developing a plan, sticking to it, and BELIEVING it will work
My favorite quote from the video: “Rich people believe that what they’re doing is going to work. Successful and wealthy people never begin a project and say ‘This probably isn’t going to work, but what the hell’!”
This really got me thinking about what I want in 2009. I determined that my goals for the big 3 in my life this year will be the following:
Health: Get to a weight of 180 pounds or lower while consistently going to the gym and eating a balanced diet.
Wealth: Create an internet marketing company that nets $500k this year through CPA arbitrage, affiliate commissions for digital products, creation and sales of digital products, ad commissions, and various other income streams.
Relationships: Build on and improve the relationships I have with the loved ones in my life while continuing to meet cool, inspirational, and successful new people to learn from and grow with.
Miscellaneous: Read 3 good fiction books and travel to 3 cool places this year.
I tried to be as specific as possible and it has really helped my focus and drive so far. My internet marketing efforts thus far have been met with a lot of failure, but I am learning a lot and I understand that failure is refining the way I do things so that I am moving towards success.
My wealth node is my biggest focus this year. I am in the Arbitrage Conspiracy to learn the best CPA tactics available and I also picked up the Infomillionaire system to get me started and moving in the right direction as far as my digital product efforts. Not to mention I am starting back with college again to round out my career aspirations just a bit more. I have specific goals in place, great teachers and knowledge to draw from, and the drive and motivation to push through failure and meet my goals NO MATTER WHAT.
Why am I telling you this? I am giving you a blueprint similar to what Frank discussed about getting rich. If you follow the 4 steps he gave in the video… (which are):
1. Know your outcome and begin developing a plan of action to go and get it.
2. Believe that what you are doing is going to work.
3. Work hard.
4. Sell what rich people are selling and do the same business they are doing.
….there is no way you can fail! If you have goals for your relationships or health, then just adjust Step 4 into: Model and do what healthy or social people are doing.
What are your goals for 2009? Have you clearly defined them? Are you developing a plan of action to get them? Are you willing to do WHATEVER IT TAKES?
Get going. I will share my successes and failures(learning lessons) with you as we go through this year together. Please don’t hesitate to drop a comment and share yours as well so we can learn from each other.
My best wishes for your successes and mine for 2009.
Clark
